How NEMT Insurance Coverage Works
Non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is a benefit included with many Medicaid plans, and some private insurance plans, to help members get to covered healthcare appointments. Rather than booking directly with Allegiance, a covered trip is typically authorized first through your plan’s transportation broker — most commonly ModivCare or SafeRide in North Carolina — and then assigned to a contracted provider like us.
Coverage details, advance-notice requirements, and trip limits vary by plan, so the most reliable way to confirm your specific benefit is to contact your plan directly using the number on your ID card.
